05/29/2010 - Anaheim, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Angels first baseman Kendry Morales fractured his lower left leg after clubbing the game-winning grand slam in the 10th inning of a 5-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners Saturday afternoon.
Morales circled the bases after hitting Brandon League's first offering to him over the wall in center field. Morales hurt his leg when leaping toward home plate into a throng of teammates. He had to be carted off the field, his leg was placed in an air cast. Morales went to a local hospital for x-rays and further examination.
That's where the fracture was revealed of his lower left leg. He will be placed on the 15-day disabled list and will have surgery on Sunday. Dr. Phil Kwong, a foot and ankle specialist at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic will perform the surgery. No timetable has been set for Morales' return.
Morales is the only Angel to play in all 51 games for the team this season and has 11 homers and 39 RBI to go with a .290 average.
There was more bad news for the Angels. Earlier in the game, center fielder Torii Hunter suffered a bruised left hand after getting hit by a pitch from Seattle starter Felix Hernandez in the first inning. Hunter, who was replaced by Reggie Willits, is listed as day-to-day.
