Horseracing Betting Lines

12/03/2009 - Lexington, KY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The $1 million Arkansas Derby is one of three stakes that have been upgraded in status to Grade I for the 2010 racing season. The American Graded Stakes Committee of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association announced its listing of U.S. Graded Stakes for 2010 following its annual grading session conducted December 2.

Joining the Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn Park as new Grade I races are the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap at Saratoga and the Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs.

Five races were downgraded from Grade I to Grade II for 2010: Citation Handicap at Hollywood Park, Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash at Laurel Park, Go For Wand Handicap at Saratoga, John C. Mabee Stakes at Del Mar and Santa Maria Handicap at Santa Anita Park.

Grade I races for the new year will total 113, two fewer than in 2009.

Stakes races moving up to Grade II status are the American Turf Stakes at Churchill Downs, Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint, Pocahontas Stakes at Churchill Downs, Risen Star Stakes at Fair Grounds and Sir Beaufort Stakes at Santa Anita Park.

Among the 10 races that have been downgraded from Grade II to Grade III in 2010 are Illinois Derby at Hawthorne Race Course, Ohio Derby at Thistledown and Tom Fool Handicap at Belmont Park.

Other stakes downgraded to Grade III are Bed O' Roses Handicap at Aqueduct, Beverly Hills Handicap at Hollywood Park, Comely Stakes at Aqueduct, Jefferson Cup Stakes at Churchill Downs, La Prevoyante Handicap at Calder Race Course, Rampart Stakes at Gulfstream Park and Sunset Handicap at Hollywood Park.

The Breeders' Cup Marathon tops the list of six races moved up to Grade III. The other stakes elevated are Cougar II Handicap at Del Mar, Ft. Lauderdale Stakes at Gulfstream Park, Iowa Derby at Prairie Meadows, Monmouth Stakes at Monmouth Park and Sunland Derby at Sunland Park.

Eight races were demoted Grade III to Ungraded for 2010: Baldwin Stakes at Santa Anita, Barbaro Stakes at Delaware Park, Calder Derby at Calder Race Course, Cinema Handicap at Hollywood Park, Dallas Turf Cup at Lone Star Park, Miss Preakness at Pimlico, Next Move Stakes at Aqueduct and Stuyvesant Handicap at Aqueduct. The Frances A. Genter at Calder Race Course and Safely Kept Stales at Laurel Park were not eligible for grading in 2010.

The Committee reviewed 723 unrestricted U.S. stakes races with a purse of at least $75,000, and assigned graded status to 487 of them, two less than were graded in 2009.

Super Bowl XLIII Betting - Super Bowl 2009

Super Bowl 2009, the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Let’s take a look at the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds and the betting line and figure out where they’ve been and where they are going to go.

MySportsbook.com put up the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds late on Sunday night with the Pittsburgh Steelers favored by 6.5 points and a total betting line at 47.5 points.

Since then, however, the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds have seen a good deal of movement and you’ll want to be on top of where they are likely to move to make sure you get the best line value for the big game.

Since opening, the Super Bowl 2009 betting lines went to Steelers -7 in the span of roughly 3 hours but were quickly bought back down just minutes later to 6.5 again.

After that is took about 5-6 more hours before the betting line went back to -7 where it has sat for a while now and is likely to remain. The opening betting total of 47.5 was bet down right after the line became available and went to 47 within minutes.

Roughly a day later it has been bet even further down to the 46.5 tally it currently is set at.

Roughly 60% of gamblers seem to be on the Cardinals here so the point spread will be bet down and a 7.5 would not last very long at all with many taking the early 6.5 in hopes of finding a potential middle in the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds.

If you like Arizona and see a 7.5, I’d take it as soon as possible because it’s unlikely to last. For Pittsburgh backers, the -7 might be the best you’ll be able to find but a 6.5 is definitely possible close to game time.

Regarding the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds for the total, most tracked gamblers are already on the over and with those who took the under 47.5 already securing a middle on the over 46.5, the only way I see it moving is back up to 47 so if you like the over, I’d recommend betting now.
