04/19/2010 - Boulder, CO (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The University of Colorado named Tad Boyle its new men's basketball head coach on Monday.
Boyle, who comes from the University of Northern Colorado, takes over for the departed Jeff Bzdelik and will be the 18th head coach in school history.
"Tad Boyle represents everything that is right about college basketball," said CU athletic director Mike Bohn. "We look forward to his leadership, poise and competitive drive to unite all our collective Buff interests to support our team and this enterprise that has so much promise for the long term."
A former player for the University of Kansas under then-head coach Larry Brown, the 47-year-old Boyle finished the previous season with a 25-8 mark for the Bears, who finished second in the Big Sky Conference.
He posted a 54-62 mark over four seasons in Greeley, taking a squad which went 4-24 during his first year in 2005-06, to one which landed a berth in the CollegeInsider.com tourney this past campaign.
"This is it (my dream job), there's no doubt," Boyle said of his appointment. "I remember talking with (former Kansas teammate) Mark Turgeon once where he asked me where I wanted to be in 10 years, and I said head coach at the University of Colorado. This is a destination job. I'm humbled and honored."
Bzdelik led the Buffaloes to a 15-16 record in 2009-10, including a 6-10 mark in the Big 12.
